AFIA Awards

Distinguished Service Award  is AFIA's highest honor to a member. Since 1981, only 29 individuals have received this award. These award winners are truly the elite members of the U.S. feed industry who have through their careers provided outstanding support to AFIA and the entire feed industry. Member of the Year is given to an AFIA member who has exhibited amazing support over the year to helping AFIA achieve its goals and objectives. Since 1985, 31 individuals have received this award. For a list of the past award winners, click here.

Liquid Feed Hall of Fame is managed by AFIA's Liquid Feed Committee and was developed in 2003 to publicly recognize and honor individuals who have made significant contributions to the science and growth of the Liquid Feed Industry. To date, thirteen individuals have received this honor. For a list of past inductees, click here.

Feed Manufacturing Hall of Fame is the "Who's Who" in the science of animal feed production. The AFIA Feed Manufacturing Hall of Fame recognizes retired individuals who have made significant contributions to the science of feed manufacturing. In 1995, the inaugural year, 10 inductions were made and enshrined in the Hall of Fame, housed in Shellenberger Hall on the campus of Kansas State University. Since then, several more individuals have been inducted, recognizing outstanding life-long contributions to the feed industry. For a list of the past inductees, click here.


Feed Mill of the Year is co-sponsored by AFIA and Feedstuffs magazine. The program is designed to recognize overall excellence in feed manufacturing operations. Increased safety, quality, regulatory compliance, operating efficiencies and overall industry awareness of food safety are promoted. As companies compete, their operations continue to improve and the overall image of the feed industry is enhanced. For a list of past winning facilities, click here.

Truck Fleet of the Year  was co-sponsored by AFIA and Feed Management magazine. It honors outstanding AFIA member truck fleets. Beginning in 2007, the Truck Fleet of the Year has been incorporated into the Feed Mill of the Year program. For a list of past honorees, click here.

Food Safety Innovation Award was created to recognize outstanding innovations in food/feed safety. This award was presented in 2003, 2004 and 2005 to firms that have demonstrated committment to safety standards in food/feed safety.  For a list of past recipients, click here.

AFIA & American Society of Animal Science Nutrition Research Awards is new program that AFIA has sponsored since 1948. From 1948 – 1988 AFIA sponsored the AFIA Award in Nutrition Research Award and after 1998, the award was given to both a non-ruminant nutrition researcher and a ruminant nutrition researcher. New Frontiers in Animal Nutrition Award is a new program that is co-sponsored by AFIA and the Federation of Animal Science Societies since 2004. Award winners made an outstanding and innovative contribution to nutrition research concerning animals that benefits mankind and/or the nutritional value of food from animals.
