A Southern States feed mill in Cleveland, N.C., is the 2009 Feed Mill of the Year, according to the American Feed Industry Association and Feedstuffs, the sponsors of the annual contest. The runner-up is a Cargill Turkey Production mill in Harrisonburg, Va.

International Safe Feed/Safe Food Nears Launch Following Training

The international version of the Safe Feed/Safe Food Certification Program is nearing implementation, according to the American Feed Industry Association, the creator and sponsor of the Safe Feed/Safe Food program that has run successfully in the United States since 2004. The Safe Feed/Safe Food program is a unique, third-party-verified program in which more than 350 livestock feed and ingredient facilities, operated by nearly 90 companies, are certified.

AFIA Hosts First-Ever Regulatory Training This Week

The federal and state regulations that cover the livestock feed, pet food and related ingredients industry were the focus of this week’s first-ever Regulatory Training Short Course, a unique event organized by the American Feed Industry Association. More than 120 feed industry insiders attended the short course, a number that exceeded by 600 percent the early expectations of event organizers.
