AFIA Board of Directors Conclude Spring Meeting, Capitol Hill Visits
Members of the American Feed Industry Association’s Board of Directors last week met to discuss issues of mutual concern and make those concerns known to their legislators during the annual spring meeting in the Washington, D.C. The Board also recognized Al Gunderson, Vita Plus, for his leadership as chairman this past year, welcomed his successor, Jeff Cannon, Diamond V Mills, and 16 new directors and elected 8 new members to the organization’s Executive Committee.

AFIA Names Kersey, Vickers Co-Members of the Year
The American Feed Industry Association has named Jarrod Kersey, Ph.D., The Nutro Company and Jason Vickers, P&G Pet Care, Co-Member of the Year. Both have provided leadership to AFIA’s Pet Food Committee during the last two years, each serving a term as chair. The award was announced May 14, 2013, at AFIA’s Board of Directors meeting.

Dr. Trevor Tomkins Named Recipient of AFIA Distinguished Service Award

AFIA and K-State to Offer Feed Safety and Quality Assurance Protocols Distance Education Program
Increasingly, food and feed quality and safety are hot button issues requiring the feed and pet food industries to prepare and respond to the upcoming Food Safety Modernization Act. AFIA Nutrition Symposium Addresses Sustainable Technologies in Animal Agriculture
The 2013 Purchasing and Ingredient Suppliers Conference (PISC), an annual two-day event of the American Feed Industry Association concluded March 14 in Fort Worth, Texas. Prior to the conference on March 11-13, AFIA’s Spring Committee Meetings provided time for the association’s committees and Board of Directors to meet. A highlight of the Spring Committee Meetings was the pre-conference Nutrition Symposium, presented March 12 by the Nutrition Council.

More than 530 Attend AFIA Purchasing and Ingredient Suppliers Conference
The 2013 Purchasing and Ingredient Suppliers Conference (PISC), an annual two-day event of the American Feed Industry Association, concluded March 14 in Fort Worth, Texas. Last week, 535 attendees from the livestock, feed and pet food industry gathered to learn about the latest issues, events and other matters. AFIA’s Purchasing and Ingredient Suppliers Committee has sponsored the annual event for many years.
