AFIA Provides “Accolades and Concerns” on FSMA Feed Rule
The American Feed Industry Association (AFIA) on Thursday along with “90 of their closest friends” attended the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) Public Meeting to provide industry feedback on the proposed rule to establish current good manufacturing practice and hazard analysis and risk-based preventive controls for animal food. The meeting, held in College Park, Md., was the first of three nationwide to be hosted by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to answer questions and take part in dialogue surrounding the proposed animal food rule.

AFIA, NGFA, Feedstuffs to Host Free FSMA Webinar
The American Feed Industry Association (AFIA), the National Grain and Feed Association (NGFA) and Feedstuffs will host a free webinar from 2-5 p.m. EST on Dec. 11, which will address current good manufacturing practice (CGMP) and hazard analysis and risk-based preventive controls for food for animals.

EMC to Offer Two Additional Scholarships Annually
The American Feed Industry Association’s (AFIA) Equipment Manufacturer’s Committee (EMC) will offer two new scholarships in an effort to support students who have chosen an educational pathway in the feed and grain industry at a qualified, higher educational institution. The two scholarships will be administered in addition to the original scholarship offered to students attending Kansas State University (KSU) in an agricultural capacity.

Sellers Promoted to AFIA’s Senior Vice President
Veteran American Feed Industry Association (AFIA) employee Richard Sellers has been promoted to senior vice president. The announcement was made at the association’s October Board Meeting in Des Moines, Iowa. Sellers previously served as AFIA’s vice president of feed regulation and nutrition.

AFIA and NGFA Release Statement on FDA FSMA Feed Rule
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) today issued the proposed rule on Current Good Manufacturing Practice and Hazard Analysis and Risk-Based Preventive Controls for Food for Animals. The release marks the latest set of proposed rules issued by the agency to implement the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). In response, the American Feed Industry Association (AFIA) and National Grain and Feed Association (NGFA) issued the following joint statements:

AFIA to Host First-Ever Export Seminar at IPPE
On Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, the American Feed Industry Association (AFIA) will host a seminar to provide insight to the complex process of exporting feed and feed ingredients into the United States. The How to Export Feed and Feed Ingredients to the U.S. seminar is the first of its kind sponsored by the association and will be held during the International Production & Processing Expo (IPPE) in Atlanta, Ga.

AFIA to Host Seventh Annual Pet Food Conference
The American Feed Industry Association (AFIA) in partnership with the Poultry Protein and Fat Council will sponsor the seventh annual Pet Food Conference on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, the first day of the International Production & Processing Expo (IPPE). The conference will be held at the Georgia World Congress Center from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Liquid Feed Symposium Attracts 185 Attendees from Industry’s Niche Field
The American Feed Industry Association’s 2013 Liquid Feed Symposium attracted more than 185 attendees to St. Louis, Mo., Sept. 10-12, as a source to educate and promote the agricultural liquid supplement industry. The event is the country’s largest gathering of liquid supplement leaders in manufacturing, nutrition, quality, sales and marketing, boasting high-quality speaker presentations, research funding reports, achievement recognition and the Liquid Feed Symposium Trade Show.
