Applications for the American Feed Industry Association’s 2009 Feed Mill of the Year award are now available online.
The Feed Mill of the Year program recognizes three feed mills—an overall winner, a runner-up plant and a most-improved facility—for overall excellence each year.
AFIA is pleased it is again partnering with Feedstuffs on the program.
The deadline to complete applications for 2009 is July 24. Participation is limited to feed mills with current AFIA memberships.
To apply, link to the online application by clicking here. The survey also is accessible from AFIA’s home page (www.afia.org) and Feedstuffs’ home page (www.feedstuffs.com).
The application fee for the program is $35 per facility. If you wish to submit applications for more than one facility, multiply the $35 fee by the number of facilities applying for the award. Checks should be mailed to AFIA at 2101 Wilson Blvd., Suite 916, Arlington VA 22201. To ensure payment is credited properly, please type “FMOTY 2009” in the memo line of the check prior to mailing it.
According to Keith Epperson, AFIA vice president of manufacturing and training, once applications are processed and scored, site visits of the finalists will take place. The winner, runner-up and most-improved plant will be announced in the fall of 2009. The top two feed mill facilities will be permitted to use appropriate logos for one year to promote their accomplishments.
The Cargill Animal Nutrition plant in Martinsburg, Pa., was the 2008 Feed Mill of the Year; the Ridley plant in Beloit, Kan., was the runner-up.
Questions specific to the application or the application process may be directed to Epperson at kepperson@afia.org or (703) 558-3568.
