AFIA’s Largest Annual Event Concludes in Atlanta
The 2012 International Feed Expo, organized by the American Feed Industry Association in conjunction with the U.S. Poultry & Egg Association’s International Poultry Expo, concluded yesterday in Atlanta, Ga. IFE/IPE featured a number of educational programs and nearly 900 exhibitors displayed the latest in products and technologies. More than 20,500 visitors from over 100 different countries attended this year’s event supporting the feed, pet food and poultry industries.

FDA Addresses FSMA, AAFCO at the 2012 Pet Food Conference
The International Feed Expo/International Poultry Expo is the annual event organized by the American Feed Industry Association in conjunction with the U.S. Poultry & Egg Association held in Atlanta, Georgia, Jan. 24-26 at the Georgia World Conference Center. One of the highlights of the event was the annual Pet Food Conference, hosted by AFIA and the Poultry Protein & Fat Council.

AFIA Hosts Education Program at IFE/IPE 2012
The International Feed Expo/International Poultry Expo is the annual event organized by the American Feed Industry Association in conjunction with the U.S. Poultry & Egg Association was held in Atlanta, Ga., Jan. 24-26. AFIA hosted the International Feed Education Forum during the second day of the event.

American Meat Institute to Co-Locate With IPE/IFE in 2013
U.S. Poultry & Egg Association (USPOULTRY) and the American Feed Industry Association (AFIA) have signed an agreement with the American Meat Institute (AMI) to co-locate the AMI tradeshow with the IPE/IFE in Atlanta, annually in January, starting in 2013. The three shows will operate under one umbrella creating one of the largest 50 shows in the United States. It is expected that the entire show will include more than 1,000 exhibitors and close to 1,000,000 square feet of exhibit space. The meat and poultry exhibits will be combined on one large show floor, and the IFE will be held in the adjacent hall. One badge will allow all attendees into any exhibit.

New Third-Party Facility Certification Program for Pet Food Manufacturers; Pet Food Ingredient Processors
Earlier today at AFIA’s Pet Food Conference in Atlanta, Ga., AFIA announced a new third-party facility certification program designed specifically for manufacturing pet food and pet food ingredients. The Pet Food Manufacturing Facility Certification Program (PFMFCP) and the Pet Food Ingredient Facility Certification Program (PFIFCP) were developed by AFIA’s pet food and quality committees with input from third-party food safety experts.
