The American Feed Industry Association Integrator Committee is among the youngest of the extensive list of AFIA committees. It was developed in 2005 to support the key needs of the livestock and poultry integrator sector of the industry. Since formation, the Integrator Committee has provided valuable input on a wide range of topics, including:
  • BSE
  • Dioxin
  • FDA’s Animal Feed Safety System
  • Safe Feed/Safe Food Certification Program
  • Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures
  • National Emphasis on Hazardous Air Pollutants
  • Carbon footprinting of a feed mill
  • Food Safety Modernization Act
  • Rewrite of the Hazard Communications Act
  • Sustainability program of energy management

As the U.S. Food and Drug Administration prepares to implement FSMA, the Integrator Committee continues to be active in providing comments to AFIA about the impact of the rule on the integrator sector of the industry.
The committee is also involved in the AFIA Sustainability Initiative, and is working in conjunction with the Production Compliance Committee and the Equipment Manufactures Committee to develop programs to minimize waste in feed facilities. The committee is actively involved in developing a benchmarking program to help facilities become more efficient.
The committee meets every year in Atlanta, Ga., in conjunction with the International Feed Expo and by conference call throughout the year.
