Regarding Strong Support of the
Regulatory Accountability Act of 2015 (H.R. 185)
Jan. 14, 2015
“AFIA reiterates its strong support of the Regulatory Accountability Act of 2015 (H.R. 185) in the wake of a veto threat made by the Obama administration earlier this week.
“AFIA, along with most of the business community, supports necessary, narrowly tailored regulations congruent to accurate data and evidence. These rules should impose minimal compliance and cost burden on our membership, while implementing congressional intent.
“AFIA strongly believes modernization of the 69-year-old Administrative Procedure Act will, in fact, improve the regulatory process, bringing a significant decrease in costs to the government and regulated industry.
“AFIA applauds the House for its passage of H.R. 185 despite objection from the executive branch and now urges the Senate to follow suit. H.R. 185 will achieve a fair regulatory process and review, while improving transparency, and holding government agencies more accountable to ensure regulations are indeed necessary and cost effective.”
