AFIA Media Alert: Last Call for Free OSHA Hazard Communication Standard Implementation Webinar Registration
Last Call for Free OSHA Hazard Communication
Standard Implementation Webinar Registration
WHAT: The American Feed Industry Association and National Grain and Feed Association have teamed up with Grain Journal to host a free webinar on the new Occupational Safety and Health Administration Hazard Communication Standard (HCS) implementation. AFIA and NGFA also plan to share an industry guidance document and generic safety data sheets for both feed and grain.
WHEN: Thursday, May 7, 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. EDT
WHERE: Online--details to come following registration.
WHO: Speakers include Jess McCluer, NGFA director of safety and regulatory affairs, and Christian Richter, president and CEO of The Policy Group and AFIA consultant.
McCluer manages NGFA's wide-ranging operational programs concerning employee safety and industrial health, environmental issues, grain-handling facility design and equipment, and grain inspection and weighing issues. Richter's firm provides strategy, advocacy and analytical services to trade associations on environmental, health, defense, workplace and related issues.
WHY: Employers in the grain handling, feed, grain processing and related industry sectors face a June 1, deadline to implement the recently updated OSHA HCS. The primary implication is that raw grains and oilseeds, as well as some feeds and ingredients, shipped to downstream customers will now be required to comply with OSHA's requirement to issue a revised SDS.
The standard applies to all U.S. employees who are exposed to hazardous chemicals in the workplace.
