The American Feed Industry Association’s (AFIA) Board of Directors wrapped up its annual spring meeting last week, where they advocated for key policy priorities impacting the animal food industry on Capitol Hill. In particular, they lobbied for a legislative amendment to regulate novel animal food additives at the Food and Drug Administration as feed ingredients, instead of drugs; $5 million in increased funding for the FDA’s Center for Veterinary Medicine for ingredient reviews; and key trade and conservation programs in the Farm Bill that can help the industry remain globally competitive and sustainable in the future.
Thank you to the U.S. Senate and House offices who met with our members and our AFIA leadership for pounding the pavement! See photo highlights below.
