Good Gravy! Giving Tuesday and Your Turkey

IFEEDER, Holidays, Member value, Turkey

‘Tis the season of giving.

Now that you’ve had a few days to recover from the splendors of food and family, it’s important to take a second and reflect on what you’re thankful for and how you can affect positive change not only within your community, but across the globe as well.

Every year on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, we celebrate GivingTuesday, a global day of giving, to inspire millions to show up and give back to causes and issues that matter to them. The goal of this movement is to create a massive wave of generosity that lasts well beyond that day and touches every person on the planet. This year, GivingTuesday will take place on December 3.

Now, reaching every person on the planet sounds like a rather tall order, but through our efforts in the agriculture and animal food industries, this is rather simple. We all have to eat! And so do our livestock and poultry. That turkey probably didn’t make it on your table last week without gobbling down some corn, soybeans and other feed products. That’s why our research and educational efforts through IFEEDER are so important, as we assure consumers a safe, healthy and sustainable food supply.

Founded in 2009 by the American Feed Industry Association, the Institute for Feed Education and Research is a 501 (c)(3) public charity that serves as a champion for the animal food industry.

Our mission and efforts are more critical now than ever before, as today, less than 2% of the U.S. population is engaged in food and agriculture production and as a consequence, consumers are often subject to misinformation. This impacts the way our businesses, and more importantly how America’s farmers and ranchers, manage operations. Through IFEEDER’s education and research efforts with the support of donors like you, we have been able to contest these misconceptions and inform consumers of our industry’s positive impact.

By funding critical animal feed and pet food research, we have been able to fill data gaps, identify potential risks and take action to ensure legislative policies are reflective of our industry’s needs. In doing so, we have built trust, protected consumer choice and highlighted our industry’s sustainability story. As a result, leaders and consumer influencers alike continue to better understand the industry’s positive role in supplying safe, wholesome and affordable protein to customers.

So, why should you donate to IFEEDER this GivingTuesday?

Well, other than helping to ensure that next year’s Thanksgiving turkey or holiday ham ends up on your table in a safe and sustainable way, supporting IFEEDER through a monetary donation can have a huge impact on our industry and the way consumers understand and relate to agriculture and feed. Not to mention, 100% of all contributions to IFEEDER directly support our research and education projects. For every dollar donated, IFEEDER leverages an additional $5, with over 80% of our projects including leveraged dollars.

Happy Holidays!
