AFIA Applauds Confirmation of Gregg Doud as USTR Chief Agricultural Negotiator

The American Feed Industry Association congratulates Gregg Doud on his confirmation as chief agricultural negotiator in the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR). The Senate confirmed Doud yesterday following a lengthy hold placed on his nomination, and with myriad trade issues affecting the animal food manufacturing industry, AFIA believes he is the right person for the job.

ICYMI: AFIA Board Chair Urges Administration to 'Finish the Race on NAFTA'

On Friday, Lee Hall, the American Feed Industry Association’s board chairman and vice president of Hallway Feeds, penned an op-ed for Agri-Pulse that calls on the administration to “stop jousting with two of our most valuable trading partners” and move forward with the renegotiation of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).

AFIA Urges FDA to Swiftly Take Action

The American Feed Industry Association is calling upon the Food and Drug Administration to consider streamlining or removing several federal regulations and recordkeeping requirements that are unclear, duplicative, antiquated or do nothing to enhance the safety of America’s animal food supply at the great expense of small and large animal food manufacturers. AFIA submitted formal comments to the agency late yesterday in response to its federal docket (FDA-2017-N-5104) requesting input from industry and other stakeholders on current human and animal food safety regulations and information collection requirements that could be improved upon or reduced.

Pet Food Conference Attracts Full House

The American Feed Industry Association wrapped up its 11th annual Pet Food Conference in conjunction with the International Production & Processing Expo (IPPE) in Atlanta, Georgia. AFIA/Feedstuffs Name Sanderson Farms as 2017 Feed Facility of the Year

The American Feed Industry Association is proud to announce that Sanderson Farms of Collins, Mississippi, has been named the 2017 Feed Facility of the Year (FFY). New Research Shows How Animal Food Manufacturing Industry Keeps America's Livestock Fed, Drives National Economy

Each day across America, more than 6,200 animal food manufacturing facilities are quietly humming along, producing millions of tons of animal food to provide the right nutritional balance to keep the country’s livestock, poultry and pets happy and healthy. Today, the Institute for Feed Education and Research (IFEEDER) is proud to share the results of two, first-of-a-kind, yearlong research projects, which quantify the industry’s contribution to the national, state and local economies. It also provides a comprehensive analysis of the ingredients used in the top livestock, poultry and aquaculture diets.

AFIA Members Donate Nearly 100K Hours, $44M in 2017

The American Feed Industry Association released the results of its annual charitable giving survey today, revealing a sharp increase over 2016 in the animal food industry’s total donations and volunteer hours in support of charities and community organizations. AFIA member company employees donated a collective 92,000 hours of their time to supporting community service projects in 2017—a 124 percent increase from 2016. AFIA member companies, including company-employee matches, also donated over $44 million to an expansive list of community causes.

Registration Opens for AFIA's Feed Industry Institute

The American Feed Industry Association has opened registration for its biennial Feed Industry Institute (FII), happening June 11-14 in St. Louis, Missouri. The conference, which has been held every other year since merging with the National Feed Ingredients Association in 1992, brings together roughly 125 individuals in the industry to learn the basics of the animal food manufacturing process – from the types of foods used to the animals served to federal policies that shape the output of the industry.

AFIA Announces 2017 Feed Facility of the Year Category Winners

The American Feed Industry Association is proud to announce four category winners of the 2017 Feed Facility of the Year (FFY) program. AFIA congratulates ADM Animal Nutrition of Cordele, Georgia, as the winner of the commercial dry livestock feed plant category; Sanderson Farms of Collins, Mississippi, as the winner of the integrator category; Westway Feed Products of Dimmit, Texas, as the winner of the liquid feed plant category for the second consecutive year; and Animix LLC of Juneau, Wisconsin, as the winner of the premix manufacturing plant category.
